Ablative Surgery

The primary goal of ablative surgery is to remove all of the visible tumor along with a clear margin of healthy tissue surrounding the tumor. The surgeon evaluates the three dimensional anatomy of the region of cancer involvement so that the perimeter and the depth of the resection can be completed to ensure complete cancer removal. In addition, the ablative procedure involves removing any lymph nodes or other tissues that may be involved by the cancer.
