Nasopharyngeal Cancer

Nasopharyngeal Cancer includes cancers in the  uppermost part of the throat right behind the nasal cavity. The most common risk factors for developing a nasopharyngeal cancer are infection with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), environmental factors, and smoking and alcohol use. Symptoms of nasopharyngeal cancer include lumps in the neck, obstruction or bleeding of the nose, ear pain or pressure, or headaches. If a patient notices any of these symptoms, it is a good idea for them to see a doctor to get it checked out as soon as possible. A combination of endoscopy, imaging, and a biopsy will likely be necessary to confirm a diagnosis of nasopharyngeal cancer. The most common treatment for nasopharyngeal cancer is radiation with or without chemotherapy.
